RICHMOND, BC – bioLytical™ Laboratories announced today that they will be donating 3000 of their INSTI™ kits, a rapid HIV antibody test to International Children’s Awareness (ICA) Canada. The INSTI kits will help identify HIV patients for their new Health Center for women in Ghana, Africa. bioLytical™ Laboratories and Nickelback guitarist Ryan Peake and wife Treana Peake have partnered up to help the initiatives of ICA Canada. ICA Canada is committed to providing access to things that they consider fundamental rights, such as health care, education and clean water.

The new Health Centre will treat women with maternal illnesses and will incorporate an outreach aspect. The outreach aspect involves medical personnel traveling to remote villages and administering health care to the women and girls. A large part of this outreach and clinic work will involve patients with HIV and AIDS. The INSTI kits will facilitate the diagnosis of HIV in where it would not have been possible in the past; once the diagnosis has been made the patient can be moved to the Health Centre to begin the appropriate care. The plan is for all patients to be tested for HIV, not only for their benefit, but for the protection of the health care workers.

ICA has worked in partnership with local indigenous groups for the past 9 years to help improve living conditions.
