Health Canada licensed the 60 second INSTI HIV test on October 25th, 2005.

In many parts of the world, rapid HIV testing has been routine use in voluntary counseling and testing programs for many years, and is often the only type of testing available for resource constrained settings. In contrast, rapid testing for HIV diagnosis is only recently being implemented in most developed-world settings where laboratory-based testing has been the standard for over twenty years.
