EXECUTIVE TEAM
Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Colin MacGillivray is the former Chief Financial Officer of Lundbeck,
Inc. (a subsidiary of H. Lundbeck A/S, Denmark) which was
established in March 2009 at Deerfield, Illinois following the
acquisition of a privately-held biopharmaceutical company focused on
developing and commercializing high-need treatments for severely ill
patients with unmet medical needs. Previously he held Finance and
Strategic Marketing roles with Elan Pharmaceuticals Inc. and
directed the Life Sciences consulting practice of Inforte Corp. He
trained as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now part
of PricewaterhouseCoopers) and has diverse financial / operating
experience gained in the US, UK, Canada, Central and Eastern Europe,
Africa and Central Asia. Colin serves as a mentor at the Irving
Harris Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago
and was awarded a Ph.D. by the Department of Animal and Plant
Sciences, University of Sheffield following undergraduate studies at
the University of Edinburgh.
Chief Technical Officer
Rick Galli began his extensive career in research and diagnostic
laboratory sciences in 1973, and has worked since then in senior
positions in public and hospital laboratory settings as well as the
private sector. He was directly involved with the laboratory
diagnosis and monitoring of HIV infection in various capacities from
1987 to 2005, and served on numerous HIV advisory boards and
associations, most recently as President of the Canadian Association
of HIV Clinical Laboratory Specialists. During that period, Rick
helped establish one of the first accredited HIV molecular
laboratory monitoring programs in Canada at the BC Center for
Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and initiated the first and only provincial
peer-reviewed HIV/AIDS grants and awards program of its kind for
Ontario-based researchers, in Toronto. Since joining bioLytical
Laboratories in 2005, Rick was instrumental in directing the
regulatory compliance elements for bioLytical and INSTI™ that
resulted in Health Canada approval, CE Marking for European Union
member countries and, most recently, US FDA approval. Mr. Galli is
responsible for bioLytical Laboratories' regulatory, technical and
clinical affairs.
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Lesley Schopp is the Vice President, Sales and Marketing and has experience in building and managing sales territories and global distribution networks. Lesley identifies and cultivates innovative business development opportunities in the global market to further the adoption of INSTI technology in highly complex international markets and manages all marketing and sales activities. Lesley was formerly the marketing manager at Fenwal Blood Technologies where she developed tools and initiatives to increase sales force efficiency and market penetration for automated blood collection devices, managed new product launch and forecast, developed market segmentation and product plans to increase market penetration. Prior to her work at Fenwal, she worked in many sales, marketing and sales training roles at Abbott Laboratories in the HIV Anti-Retroviral Sales Division. Lesley’s work in the sales, marketing and sales training departments included leading the product launch of the novel anti-retroviral Kaletra, creating and implementing new sales methodologies across the sales force, designing and implementing marketing tools and strategies to increase sales team effectiveness and training both new and seasoned sales representatives on the science behind HIV therapies, market dynamics and results driven sales and account management techniques to ensure sales growth.
Vice President, Manufacturing
Joe Day became Vice President, Manufacturing for Biolytical Laboratories in April 2009. He has extensive experience in Manufacturing, Validation and Quality Control / Assurance. His experience is based primarily in the Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industry beginning at GSK in England where he was responsible for sterilization, microbiology, rapid technologies and new product introduction. He moved to Canada in 2004 to work within a team of professionals who successfully commissioned and validated a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for a Vancouver based biotechnology company and simultaneously led the Microbiology Department. Joe has audited manufacturing facilities and also represented quality departments through internal and external audits of pharmaceutical and biotechnology operations.
Controller
Thor Bjornson is the Controller for bioLytical. In 1994, he
received his Bachelor of Commerce (with distinction) from the
University of Victoria, British Columbia. In 1995 he commenced his
articles with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu International where he was a
member of the assurance and advisory services group working with
clients ranging from retail industry to biotechnology. In 1998, he
was admitted as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Chartered
Accountants. Prior to joining bioLytical, Thor was Vice President
of a Bermuda group of companies specializing in financial and risk
management services.
