Robert Mackie, CEO and Chairman of bioLytical, leads with over 30 years of business expertise. His entrepreneurial journey includes co-founding a major mobile communications firm in Western Canada. Transitioning to real estate, he earned his license from the University of British Columbia and built a robust international portfolio in commercial real estate management and development. A dedicated philanthropist, Robert supports local charities, emphasizing sports and youth education. At bioLytical, he focuses on combating global epidemics through the innovative one-minute INSTI testing platform.
Hans Croukamp is the Chief Operating Officer of bioLytical, also serving on its board. With a career spanning over 30 years, he brings a wealth of leadership experience to the role, focusing on enhancing organizational capabilities, operations, and staff performance. Hans assumed the COO position in 2018 after previously directing operations as the Senior Operations Director, where he led various Lean initiatives to ensure product excellence and supported growth within the strict regulatory environment of medical devices. Originally from South Africa, he moved to Canada in 2001, bringing extensive experience in directing operations across multiple industries including construction, leisure, and interiors. Hans also has significant experience in manufacturing for a leading commercial refrigeration company and has managed global sales in security and signage, particularly for casinos worldwide.
Lawrence Wong, CPA, CGA, is bioLytical’s Chief Financial Officer, boasting over 15 years of experience across diverse industries. As a finance expert, he is known for devising and implementing solutions that enhance efficiency and align financial operations with corporate goals. Lawrence leads the strategy and direction of all financial activities at bioLytical. He joined the company in 2018, having previously held senior finance roles in the beverage alcohol sector, including a stint as Corporate Controller for a top Canadian wine agency. There, he managed accounting, finance, IT, business intelligence, and supply chain, playing a key role in strategic initiatives such as sales growth, acquisitions, debt restructuring, and financing. Lawrence is a Chartered Professional Accountant and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
Brent Fleming, CPHR, serves as bioLytical’s Chief People Officer, bringing over 25 years of expertise in pioneering people and culture initiatives in fast-growing companies. With a varied career spanning automotive to gaming, Brent has developed impactful programs like Blueprint for Quality and Talent Without Fear, contributing to significant market growth. Previously, as VP of HR at a gaming firm, he crafted strategies that earned accolades in Alberta and Vancouver. At bioLytical, Brent leads innovative efforts like The Zone and plans for self-directed teams, aligning with the company’s vision and his commitment to continuous learning.
David brings over two decades of sales and marketing expertise across multiple industries to his role at bioLytical. He is pivotal in formulating the company's comprehensive commercial strategy, which encompasses sales planning, marketing, communications, and account management. David is key to commercializing the INSTI product line and manages both domestic and international sales. Prior to joining bioLytical in 2021, he spent five years in pharmaceuticals, excelling in key account management and sales, where he surpassed revenue goals and expanded market share. David holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and a Certified Sales Professional designation, alongside numerous professional accolades. His career is marked by robust sales growth and the enhancement of team capabilities and professional networks.
Ana brings over 18 years of experience spanning scientific research, quality and regulatory affairs, biotechnology, in-vitro diagnostics, and medical devices to her role at bioLytical. As Chief Scientific Officer, she provides scientific and strategic leadership across product development, clinical evaluation, regulatory approval, and commercialization of the company’s INSTI®, iStatis™, and TruPlex™ diagnostic platforms. Since rejoining bioLytical in 2021, Ana has played a key role in advancing multiple diagnostic programs from development through clinical validation, regulatory approval, and commercialization. Her work spans scientific and product development strategy, clinical affairs, regulatory strategy, manufacturing, and quality, and she has contributed to innovative technologies that have resulted in four patent filings by bioLytical. Prior to rejoining bioLytical, Ana worked in scientific research, medical device auditing, and consulting, including serving as a Lead Auditor with BSI, where she assessed medical device manufacturers against international regulatory and quality management requirements. Ana holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and completed postdoctoral research in Miami. She also holds a Regulatory Affairs Certification and has a strong record of scientific research and scholarly publications. Her combination of scientific, regulatory, clinical, and quality expertise enables her to bridge scientific innovation with the regulatory and operational requirements needed to bring novel diagnostic technologies from concept through commercialization.
